The Start Of The Vacations.

0

It was a Jolly Good Moment at St. John Memorial School, It was the last day of the final exams. TRIIINGG!!, rang the warning bell and the students hurriedly submitted their answer sheets to the Examiner…waiting for their ‘long-lost freedom‘ to be achieved once again, till it is finally snatched away by the most feared ‘books and parents’ after a month of full of… fun and enjoyment. It was the middle of December, the weather was cold…Christmas was in near the doors, and the students were relieved to be finally sitting under the warm blanket, watching ‘soaps and serials‘, and the Television…or the ‘Idiot-Box’, which was the favorable pass-time of the students would be happy enough, to be in service… from the ‘morning-to-night‘ until scolded by the parents to go off and play outside. Much to the excitement of the Children…they did not have to wait much longer, as the final bell rang sooner…which raised the ‘enthu‘ of the people inside it, comprising both of children, Boys and Teachers. The Principal, who was most happy to be relieved to be away from the pestering ‘little devils and imps‘ for at-least a month.

“Ahem!!…ahem!! G. Morning…..I mean, Good Morning!! my students”  Said the Principal.

“Good Morning, Princi” Said the students.

“How are you all”

“Very fine!! Princi”

“Oh!! I see…so you know, that your vacations are starting…so let me tell you, Blah!!…Blah!!….Blah!!” and he started his never ending speech…to the disappointment Leela.

“Princi’s giving a very humongous speech”said Leela. “I don’t think we are going to get home any faster”.

“Yeah!!………..you’re right” said Kailash…who liked to call himself “K”. The Others were aware Of it.

The whole school broke into silence…with only Princi, giving his speech. It looked as if..Princi didn’t want to see them independent, from books and all sort of it!!. But, they still had some brave, so-called ‘patriots‘ to free us from Princi’s Domination. They were the brave and fearlessSammy and Indira“. They were the most feared in the whole school. The seniors, teachers and even Princi…were afraid of them. However their hearts were ‘as clear as crystal‘, and both had…some sort of liking for each other. Both Sammy and Indira were getting exhausted by his ‘very-boooring’ speech. Much to their relief, Princi finished up his speech…before they could take action.

“So My Dear Students……….I conclude my speech, and wish you a happy holiday” Princi said and the school was aroused in screams and laughter, and all the students were engaged in bidding ‘bon voyage‘ to each other…while some had already left school and were heading towards home.  Among them were the ‘Group of best friends’… comprising  of ‘Leela’, ‘Kailash’, or ‘K’, ‘Samuel’ or ‘Sammy’, Indira and ‘Elizabeth’ or ‘Eliz’ that she would be often called. ‘Leela’ and ‘Kailash’ were twins, and were in the 7th Standard, while the couple ‘Sammy’ and ‘Indira’ studied in the 6th standard. ‘Eliz’ was the youngest..in  5th standard. Sammy and Elizabeth were brothers and sisters, while Leela, Kailash and Indira hailed from the same family. Both of their Parents were childhood-friends, and they lived close to each other…so most of time, the five hanged out together most of the time.

“Hey ‘K’, What’s the plan for these Holidays” asked Sammy:

“Nothing” he replied. “Any Ideas!! Indira…or Eliz??”

“Nope” they replied. “I think most of the time…we’ll be at home, in the backyard house…the heater lighted up, and playing cards” Indira said.

“That’s a complete waste of holidays……I would surely do with some adventure, or thrill and suspense” said Leela.

“We are living in the twenty-first century….we will not get anything of the adventure you want!!. We live in the city, where you can’t get any sort of adventure…except in the computer-games.” said Sammy.

“I wish we lived near the countryside!!” said Little Elizabeth.

“Yeah!! we would have a farmhouse of our own, and we can grow our own food and…and we can collect fruits. We will surely have fun” she said.

But, much to the disappointment…Nobody was interested in her Idea:

“Let us get Freshened Up” said Leela……….”Then well Discuss”.

“Very Well Then” said Sammy….”Com’ On!! Elizabeth…….Lets go home and quickly freshen up. We have to hurry”. he said.

“Bye Sammy” said Indira.

“Bye” he replied. “Hurry up, Eliz!!”.

“Yeah” she replied…and saying so they went to their respective homes…with their impatient mothers waiting for them. The gang took absolutely no time in finishing up their ‘after-school chores‘ such as bathing….brushing and having lunch. Little Eliz was the most exited, because …till the previous year, she was not allowed to hang out with them because, their parents thought she was too young. This year, much to her excitement…she had grown up a little, and  was allowed to stay with them. She was so indulged in her happiness…that she making a mess of her food.

“Elizabeth!! Mind your manners while eating your food.” said her mother.

“Sorry Mom” she said and tried to control her excitement.

Both Sammy and Eliz had finished having their food and they were ready to go to Leela’s house.

“Off to Indira’s” said Sammy.

“Yeah!!” she said. “Lets go!!”.
